Heidi, Carly Rae & More EMA Stars Dish on What We’ll See!
The day before the EMAs, the show’s stars and producers gathered to give journalists a little taste of what’s in store for fans when the big show goes down at Frankfurt’s Festhalle tomorrow night. We learned that the late, great Whitney Houston will be honoured with this year’s Global Icon award, and got some inside scoop and predictions from host Heidi Klum; pre-show hosts Tim Kash, Louise Roe, and Sway; master of ceremonies Ludacris; and performers Carly Rae Jepsen and fun.!
First off, fashionista Louise Roe made some expert predictions about what we’ll see on the red carpet: peplum hems, toe cleavage, backless dresses and embellishments that are ‘bold, bright and big.’
Ludacris, who performed with David Guetta at last year’s EMA in Belfast, said he was back to show more love to his international fans as a master of ceremonies in this year’s show…but he may have an ulterior motive, too. The rapper confessed, ‘I’ve kinda got a crush on Heidi Klum, so I had to get a job close to her.’ He got us hyped for the red carpet premiere of his ‘Rest of My Life’ video, declaring, ‘I wouldn’t choose any other outlet than MTV, especially globally, to debut a video of this magnitude.’
Carly Rae Jepsen admitted that she was as excited to wear her EMA dress (spoiler alert: it’s silver!) as she is for her three nominations…but we’re guessing that bagging a trophy would be just fine by her!
Jack Antonoff and Andrew Dost of fun. said they’ve ‘been huge fans of the Killers for a long time’ and are looking forward to the band’s performance. Asked about their odds of beating One Direction as Best New Act, they predicted that ‘they’re gonna crush us—but it’s an honour to be crushed by guys who are so nice.’ So gracious…but don’t count yourselves out, guys, ‘We Are Young’ was one of the year’s biggest hits!
Last but certainly not least, our supermodel host Heidi Klum took the mic to answer the question on everyone’s minds: How many outfit changes will she pull off? Heidi says she has six Versace ensembles lined up…but until rehearsal, she won’t know whether she has enough time between onstage appearances to change into each! Hosting a live event that is watched all over the world is ‘frightening,’ she says, ‘but I’m honoured and I’m going to do my best.’
We have total confidence that Heidi, and the rest of the stars taking the EMA stage and red carpet, will do their best—and bring us a beyond spectacular show! Tune in at 9PM CET tomorrow to watch it all go down!
