Bid on Headphones Autographed by MTV EMA Celebs and Help Fight HIV

During Sunday’s MTV EMA extravaganza, the celebs who stopped by the Monster DNA lounge weren’t just checking out some sweet new headphones…they were also taking time out to support the MTV Staying Alive Foundation (www.stayingalivefoundation.org). This innovative organisation helps the fight against HIV by funding grass-roots groups in local communities and training their leaders. Their mission: Make HIV history.

At Frankfurt’s Festhalle, EMAzing celebs like Alicia Keys, Taylor Swift, The Killers, No Doubt, Pitbull, PSY, Muse, Heidi Klum, David Hasselhoff, Conor Maynard, Delilah, fun., the cast of Geordie Shore, Madeon, Isabeli Fontana, and Jedward all stopped by to autograph a pair of Monster DNA headphones. And now, those headphones are on auction on eBay, with 100% of proceeds going to the MTV Staying Alive Foundation!

If you want to do some good while blasting some beats with headphones signed by your fave EMA celeb, check out the auction and place your bid. And hurry! The auction is only open for 10 days! (more…)

Taylor Swift Closes the Show; Han Geng Wins Worldwide Act; Psy Wins Best Video!

Mr. Worldwide himself, Pitbull, got the Festhalle crowd grooving with his hit ‘Don’t Stop the Party’…but sadly, even epic parties like the MTV EMA must come to an end eventually. After massive performances, crazy celeb antics, and a whole heap of springy silver awards, the 2012 EMA has come to a close.
The Jonas Brothers presented the second ever Worldwide Act to Chinese pop star Han Geng—for the second time in a row an artist from Asia has taken the honour. And another of Asia’s superstars, Psy, picked up the Best Video trophy.
In a moving moment, the EMA paid tribute to Beastie Boy Adam Yauch, who passed away earlier this year.
After Justin Bieber picked up the Best World Stage EMA, tying her as the night’s top winner with three awards, Taylor Swift took the stage for a circus-themed performance of ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.’ Although she may have to share 2012 EMA bragging rights with the Biebs, Taylor was clearly the ringmistress of our EMA circus as she closed the show with her pyrotechnic spectacular.
Congratulations to all the 2012 MTV EMA winners… thanks to our fantastic performers and presenters… and most of all, much love to you, the fans who made this all happen by supporting your favourite artists! Until next year…good night and we hope you had an EMAzing time!

One Direction Goes Two for Two; Alicia Pays Tribute to Whitney

All those Directioners must have been busy clicking and tapping day and night! The boys of One Direction took their second EMA tonight, the prize for Best New. Congrats to the breakout boy band who ascended to superstardom in no time flat!
And on a bittersweet note, Alicia Keys paid tribute to her late friend Whitney Houston, presenting the tragic songbird with the Global Icon award after a retrospective of her life and musical career narrated by Beyonce. Whitney, you continue to inspire countless musical artists…and we will always love you.

Taylor Scores TWO MORE EMAs; Gangnam Style Steals the Show!

Taylor Swift is definitely being welcomed with open arms at her first EMA appearance—after snagging Best Female, she has also taken the prize for Best Live AND Best Look! In her Best Live acceptance speech, the U.S. singer even attempted a few words of thanks in German.
Of course, the performance everyone was eagerly anticipating was from another EMA first-timer: PSY! The K-pop phenomenon staged an epic performance with an army of doubles…and a hilarious cameo from The Hoff! Plus, in a less over-the-top but no less EMAzing performance, Muse drove the crowd crazy with ‘Madness’.
Stay tuned, there’s more to come—including a literally triumphant performance from Taylor!

Big Wins for Carly Rae, Bieber, Nicki & Guetta; Hot Performances by Alicia & No Doubt!

Carly Rae Jepsen has made quite a splash in her EMA debut! After helping open the show, she scored not one but two awards, with the Best Song prize for her breakout hit ‘Call Me Maybe’ and (during the backstage show) the award for Best PUSH Act. Congrats, Carly Rae!
Next, No Doubt performed ‘Lookin’ Hot’ with frontwoman Gwen Stefani looking extremely—wait for it—HOT! The perennially beautiful blonde was rocking a super-short skirt with a black blazer and fierce thigh-high black boots. And she and the band sound GREAT—you’d think they’d never taken a month off from performing together, much less years! (more…)
